Olympic gold medal-winning boxer Nicola Adams and her girlfriend Ella Baig have announced the birth of their first child, a baby boy.
The couple, who first announced they were expecting a child in February, revealed that he was born on Saturday morning.
In a joint social media post with her partner, Adams said they felt “instant love” for their baby, who already has his own Instagram account.
His name has yet to be revealed.
The 39-year-old former Strictly Come Dancing star said: “We are so excited to announce to the world that baby Adams has arrived.
“The first moment we laid eyes on you we felt an instant love and the strongest bond.
“We went to the moon and back to get you and we can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives watching you grow.”
Pictures accompanying the post showed them smiling in hospital and with their hands around their son’s tiny feet.
In a statement, Adams added: “We are so excited to have welcomed our son into the world on Saturday morning at around 7am.
“Nothing prepares you for this moment in life but I am so overwhelmed with love and proud of Ella.”
The baby already has more than 1,800 Instagram followers.
Famous friends congratulated them – including BBC presenter Clara Amfo, singer Fleur East and Strictly Come Dancing professional Johannes Radebe.
East said: “Ahhhh congratulations!!! Welcome to the world baby!”
The couple, who have been together for four years, had shared an ultrasound scan when they first announced the pregnancy.
Adams previously said the couple had gone through two rounds of unsuccessful IVF, with Baig, a model, suffering a miscarriage.
They started trying to conceive in 2019.
Adams has said there is “stigma attached to the IVF process” and a lack of parenting books for same-sex families.
The former professional boxer made history in 2020 as part of Strictly Come Dancing’s first same-sex pairing alongside Katya Jones.
They were forced to leave the series early after Jones tested positive for COVID-19.
